5 Tips for Home Sellers

Selling your home? Then it’s time to maximize your investment! Preparing your home for sale is paramount for getting the maximum return on your investment. Here are five tips to help you sell your home.

Prepare Your Home for Sale

When putting your home on the market, you want to ensure it’s clean and clutter-free. Take some time to clean your home or bring in some professional cleaners. And it never hurts to check all the lightbulbs, switches, and faucets to make sure they’re all in working order.

Staging your home is also a great way to boost your selling power. Homes typically show better with less furniture that’s thoughtfully arranged. This gives potential buyers the freedom to move about and the ability to envision themselves living in your house!

Work With an Agent You Trust

Choosing an agent that you trust makes a world of difference when selling your home. When searching for a REALTOR®, choose someone who works with you in mind. That will advocate for you and keep you in the loop every step of the way.

For example, when I’m working with sellers, I analyze their local market to determine price, offer feedback for preparing their homes for sale and keep them updated every step of the way. Remember - selling your home is a big step, so you want someone who will work hard for you!

Be Flexible With Home Showings

I know listing your home can be stressful, but it’s essential to be flexible when showing your home to potential buyers. If you have a busy schedule, try setting up a “showing window” with your agent that designates certain days and times your home is available to show. This gives your agent something to work with while giving you the room to prepare. The first couple of days on the market, around lunch and 5 PM, and weekends are the busiest times.

Consider a Pre-listing Inspection

Be proactive! Set up a pre-listing inspection for your home. This will give you a clear view of what improvements you need to make and what might come up during the closing process. Discuss with your REALTOR® what repairs to prioritize.

Prepare for Your Move

While you’re getting your home ready to sell, why not prepare for your move? Pack up any items that may lead to clutter or furniture you aren’t using. And make sure to ask friends and family to begin saving boxes for you. Movers are in high demand, so make sure you line them up early!
