4 Woman-Owned Birmingham Businesses

Women are leading the way here in the Magic City, especially in business. According to Made in Alabama, in the Birmingham metro, the number of women-owned businesses has increased from 20,000 to 37,600 over the last 14 years. And these women aren’t only leading the way - they’re thriving!

Here are just a few of my favorite women-owned businesses leading the way here in Birmingham.

Botanica

Plant lover? Then you’ll love Botanica! I remember interviewing Caitlin (Owner of Botanica) when she kicked off her business with a greenhouse out of her home. Now, Botanica has thrived into a booming business with a location in Downtown Birmingham, Huntsville, and Chattanooga!

Charm

Charm is a locally owned and operated boutique in Downtown Birmingham featuring an eclectic mix of new and vintage jewelry, accessories, unique gifts, handmade and locally made goods. Their shop is so much fun and is a great place to get gifts..for yourself!

Iron City Social

Iron City Social is a boutique marketing firm that offers various marketing services. They focus on “educating, empowering, and supporting” small businesses throughout the Southeast with everything from workshops and panels to social media marketing and website design. And they’re not only woman-owned but black-owned too, and they take care of all of my marketing.

Ono Ice

Ono Ice is owned by my friend, Rebecca, and they have the best shaved ice in Birmingham! Ono Ice offers Hawaiian shaved ice made from scratch with fresh fruit and other natural ingredients.
