So, you’ve scrolled through every home for sale website, and you’ve saved your favorites. But, do the homes fit your budget, and do you really know what kind of home you not only want but need?
After you’ve ‘jumped through all of the hoops’ of the pre-approval process, that’s when the fun begins! Now you can start looking at homes - and I’m talking IRL not just online! In one of our first consultations, we’ll go over what kind of home you’re looking for and what area you think you’d like to live in.
It’s all about location
Location, location, location! One of the first things we’ll discuss is where you want to live. Is there a certain community or area you’re in love with? Or does a community just have to have certain amenities or proximity to work, restaurants, etc? It’s all about not only finding the right home for you but an area that fits into your lifestyle and budget.
How long are you staying there?
Another thing to consider is how long you plan on being in this home. Is this your forever home or your first home? If it’s not forever, you can be more flexible on your list of needs and wants. But if it’s forever, your ‘need to haves’ should come first.
The home itself
The third thing is the home itself. Are you looking for a condo, townhome, or single-family? How many bedrooms and bathrooms do you need?
Don’t forget to consider the outside of the home too. Do you want a flat, fenced yard? A detached garage or is off-street parking an absolute must-have?
Together we’ll narrow down your ‘need to haves’ and ‘nice to haves’. And based on that list, I’ll compile a list of homes for us to view!
Be flexible
Think about it. Is that second bathroom more important than living in that perfect neighborhood? Or maybe you’ll be able to check off more boxes on your list if you’re willing to look in another neighborhood - if the area isn’t a deal-breaker. In this hot market, it’s all about being flexible and keeping a clear line between what’s important and what you could do without.
